The ice turns very clear at the end of this process because all of the impurities are heated away using boiled water. We recommend starting with filtered water. Filtered water has less impurities to start with, so it requires less amount of boiling time. If you don’t have any filtered water around, feel free to use tap water, just repeat the process once afterwards.
Boiling the water
To start, fill a pot with enough water to fill an ice tray or ice machine. Bring the pot of water to a boil and allow it to sit for a few minutes. While the water boils, it removes anything that would cloud up an ice cube. After the water has been to a boil, take it off the heat and let it cool a bit for safety. Nobody wants to burn themselves on accident !
Move boiled water to ice tray
After the water is cooled for safety, transfer the water into either an ice tray or ice maker. Some ice makers used commercially can actually do this entire process for you.
